Leadership is a profession

Leadership is not something you just do next to your job. It is a profession in itself. Without training, managers sooner or later get stuck, despite or precisely because of their mentality and commitment. It is precisely the strengths that one has developed as an employee that form the pitfalls for the manager, such as wanting to do everything yourself, or endlessly giving instructions when people do things slightly differently from you. As a leader, new skills are needed, such as communicating, motivating, instructing, delegating and much more. The one-day Situational Leadership® training is a must for every manager. The success stems from the practical applicability and logical structure of the model. Leaders immediately have an instrument in their hands with which management is geared to the employees and thus becomes inspiring and motivating.

The vision of Situational Leadership®

Fortunately, there is a simple and effective leadership model that offers a solution for every manager: Situational Leadership® . This model from Dr. Paul Hersey is the most widely used leadership model in the world. It teaches managers to exert the right influence on their employees towards the desired results. The leader learns to adapt behavior to the needs of the employee. To make it practically applicable, the model has a framework of four leadership styles, based on a combination of more or less directive, task-oriented behavior and more or less human, relationship-oriented behaviour. The employee experiences the appropriate style as very motivating and constructive, an impulse for both performance and the relationship.

Who is Situational Leadership®
suitable for?

The training is suitable for any manager who wants to develop employees in order to improve team performance. The aim is to learn to apply the Situational Leadership® framework, so that employees experience the leader's behavior as constructive, motivating and inspiring. The level of experience as a manager is not important. Every leader will learn a lot from it at their own level and take away practical tips that can be applied immediately the next day.

What you will learn

Prior to the training, the 360° LEAD assessment is used. The leader completes a simple self-test and invites a few employees, colleagues, their own manager and possibly other stakeholders to answer the simple questions anonymously. This gives the participating manager a (discreet) picture of the primary leadership behavior and the different styles that people prefer to use. The outcome of the LEAD 360° assessment is constructively discussed during the training. After the training, a treasure chest of useful tools, videos and other materials opens up online. During the training, the leader learns, based on the Situational Leadership® model, to apply four core competencies:

  • Diagnose an employee's Performance Readiness® level to perform a specific task. At what level is the employee in his or her development?
  • Based on this diagnosis, choose the right one of the four leadership styles and master the associated leadership behavior.
  • Communicating and influencing in a way that employees experience as constructive, motivating and inspiring.
  • Making progress and results by managing the movement towards high performance.

Available formats

The course is given both in-person and virtually. Our virtual method is highly interactive with the same high-quality learning effects. The one-day course is the heart of the complete learning experience with an extensive pre- and post-process. There is an public program for individual participants to register for. In addition, the course can also be organized in-company for a selected group of leaders, but also as part of existing leadership programs for the entire organization.
