Step 1: CAPTURE: Use a notebook, a voice recorder, e-mail, or a smart phone app to capture 100% of everything that demands your attention.

Step 2: CLARIFY: Take everything which you’ve captured and ask, “Do I need to do something with this?” No? Then throw it away, incubate it, or file it for later. Yes? Decide what is the very next action required.

Step 3: ORGANIZE: Organize your tasks into the right lists so that it’s clear what you’ll need to do at the moment that you’ll need to do it.

Step 4: REFLECT: Do weekly maintenance. Clean up and update your lists, then clear your head.

Step 5: ENGAGE: Simply do. Use your system to do the right task at the right moment.
