Strategies for influential leadership
The two-day Influencer training helps you get better results by influencing and changing behavior without formal power. As a result, you’re ready to create change and improvements on a personal level, within teams, or within an entire organization. In order to create change, we often use only one or two methods – “sources” — of influence. Perhaps we try a reward, a serious pep talk, a punishment, etc. This is the reason that lots of projects and efforts for improvement fail, leading to frustration.
The problem lies in our limited use of influence. It appears that two sources are not enough to successfully create change. Our research shows that when you tap into at least four (but preferably all six) sources of influence, the chance of successful and sustained change increases tenfold. It’s not a coincidence that the new motto is, “Influence is the new (informal) leadership”.

THE 6 SOURCES OF INFLUENCE™
Our model of Six Sources of Influence™ is an important part of the training. The model based upon two pillars: motivation and ability. Each pillar can be divided into three categories: personal, social, and structural. These categories can each be traced back to separate, thoroughly developed social science disciplines: psychology, sociology, and organizational theory.
Sources to increase your influence
The first two dimensions, personal motivation and personal ability, point to sources of influence within the individual (motivation and ability) that determine choices of behavior.
The second two, social motivation and social ability, relate to the manner in which the choices of others influence the individual.
The last two dimensions, structural motivation and structural ability, encompass the role which non-human factors play, such as pay scales, bonuses, technology, and work conditions.
